It's all about Bunting -Trend for this summer.

I just love this picture Chelsea Pensioners Garden

Bunting just creates a great atmosphere and is a visual delight
The orgin of the word is uncertain.
Bunting was originally a lightweight Worsted wool (yarn) fabric used for making flags of the Royal Navy.

Nowadays bunting is a term for any festive decoration and can be made of fabric, paper, plastic and even cardboard..
So from a celebration to a BBQ or just to lift a room it's great fun and it's even easy to make.

HOPE YOU ENJOY THESE PICTURES

Makes any garden look fun.

Love this idea of vintage french postcards made in to bunting/garland

Now that's the way to travel

Spent 3 days in Havana last year what an amazing mixed up place.
I love old cars and this is the place to see them -there everywhere.
Most of them are taxis and in order to keep the cab fare as low as possible the locals all hop in and share the cost.
Sadly tourists are not allowed to take them and if the driver is caught a very heavy fine is issued.

Below are two cars used at a great family wedding
in Wales
True starsky and hutch style this you got into via the windows!!!

Wallpaper mania

The Spring is Here!
and it's time to spruce up the place without a huge re- decoration project
and if new cushions are just not going to be enough then
one of the easiest ways to transform a room is to pick a wall and turn it into a feature by using wallpaper
It's amazing how one feature wall completely lifts the room and makes it feel brand new.
JUST LOVING THESE WALLPAPERS!
The Bird wallpaper above is by Mirabel 52cm wide and £49.95 per roll.
Some papers particularly Hand Screened papers can be quite expensive, but if you are just doing one feature wall that makes it a bit easier to afford!

Two examples below. They just do the most fantastic range of wallpaper and looking at the website is a great way to get inspired.

The ladies are hand screen printed paper

Love this for a kids bedroom
Funky Floral £25.00 per roll

Made in the UK part 2

Came across this book and just loved it. By John Timpson, Photographs by Neil McAllister and Val Corbert
about the red box

In 1924 leading architects were invited to take part in a competition to design a cast iron kiosk to house the public telephone.
Sir Giles Gilbert Scott was the winner (he also designed Battersea Power House)

By judges his telephone box was hailed as a masterpiece
'A distillation of the essence of Classicism'
Yet when the red box was launched there was uproar from the public---
'a blight on the countryside'
' An eye sore'
Once installed however the British public took it to thier hearts and now
as each one is removed we protest and even have preservation orders on some to remain in situ!!!!!

Model K6 makes a fab cocktail cabinet!!
would love to own one so will put it on my wish list!!!
Reading the book remined me of how much i lke to see the red box around so over the next month when ever i see a well located phone box i will take a picture and put it on the blog

Here are two pictures of great design/conversions by Gilbert Scott
Bankside Power House (now Tate Modern) and Battersea Power Station
